I WILL NEVER VOTE TO DEFUND PUBLIC SAFETY!
The next Councilman of Centerville must not sow seeds of division and distrust between the police and the people they have sworn to serve and protect. I am a strong advocate for law and order and I will make clear in words and action that every human life matters.
I will always vote to fully fund our Police, Fire & Rescue agencies. We need to end police pay compression and be committed to retaining the best and brightest talent that our city has to offer.
The over-regulation of the current system, is one of many ways in which our State Government in Richmond and now members of our local government has intruded beyond its proper jurisdiction
Our resort city, should always possess an environment where every citizen can pursue their own goals, free from unnecessary red tape, laws and high taxes. I will strive for our city, to embrace the free market system, competition and private enterprise, especially small business. That is the vehicle that provide jobs and prosperity in our city.
We need to make doing business in the City of Virginia Beach easier than any other city. We need to continue to invest in our Oceanfront; as that area is one of our crown jewels. I will strive to make Virginia Beach OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
My goal is to always fully fund our schools. I also believe, that all children should have access to quality education. Under the US Constitution, the power to regulate education is reserved exclusively to the States and to the people.
I believe that parents should have the primary right and responsibility to educate their children. The classroom should be a place where all viewpoints are welcomed, free speech is celebrated, and “person before politics” beliefs are preached. I further support the right of parents to freely choose public, charter, private, parochial, or homeschooling for their children.
Sadly, this really should NOT be an issue for any councilperson. It is a dangerous concept, that legislators are now telling law-abiding citizens they are going to forcibly confiscate our guns. We need a strong advocate of our second amendment in office.
I will never vote to infringe on our God-given right. I will ALWAYS support the rights of legal, law abiding citizens, to conceal or open carry in our city as well as municipal buildings. I will fight for city employees to safely conceal and open carry.
As we usher in 2021, our population will have reached 500,000. With a continuously rising urban population here in Virginia Beach, infrastructure planning becomes even more vital to the health and happiness of all people. Of course, exercise, proper sleep, and socialization are keys to a happier life, but infrastructure plays a major role as well.
I am committed to fixing roads, neighborhood drain issues & fixing flooding NOW. Today’s cities should be designed and/or improved based on the needs of its people.
That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice
That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society
That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government
That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense
That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation
Eric Wray has been part of this community for many years, working tirelessly to
make it a better place.
Listening will be a hallmark of his tenure as your councilman. Eric wants to help turn the best ideas ― from wherever they come, into best practices. Just as our citizens need our city government for services, City Hall needs to enthusiastically welcome the participation of citizens.
"While we still want to forge great relationships with our neighboring cities; Virginia Beach must be focused on Law & Order (safety) for all residents, Flooding Mitigation & Attracting major jobs to our city."
Always at your service,
